DesktopVM stands for Desktop Virtual Machine or Virtualized Desktops. Virtualized Desktops are run from Servers and are centrally administered and controlled by IT professionals. Therefore all security software and patches and software updates are done in a timely manner, and rings of security protect against malware and hackers. More importantly Virtualized Desktops stream computer screens and do not move data from a centralized repository. Therefore data does not move from machine to machine, making it far easier to track data access and to keep data private. The problem has been that high performance Desktop Virtualization software has been very expensive and unaffordable for the majority of users in a hospital complex. Some Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems require Virtualized Desktops to run their software, so this limits access to Electronic Medical Records. How DocVM plans to solve these issues with DesktopVM is as follows:

  • DesktopVM will use Virtualized Linux Desktops with no Licensing Fees

  • DesktopVM will use Open Source Virtualization Software with no Licensing Fees in ApplianceVM

  • DesktopVM will use the same high performance Streaming Technologies to Project Screens, as the expensive Desktop Virtualization technologies use

  • With DesktopVM Data never leaves ApplianceVM in a Data Centre

  • DesktopVM working with CoreVM as an integration engine and a System of Engagement (SOE), will allow multiple siloed Systems of Record (SOR) to function as one cohesive system

  • DesktopVM will also offer a Virtualized Smartphone solution as well as a Virtualized Tablet solution, collectively referred to as MobileVM

  • DesktopVM and MobileVM will be able to optimally deliver Medical images by not sending massive image files, but by sending screen pixels for better performance and security

  • Depending upon bandwidth considerations DesktopVM and MobileVM will shape the pixel streams and thus image quality, to best suit network and device constraints

  • DesktopVM and MobileVM will offer the same performance and security as expensive Virtualization solutions, with a far better integration solution, for a fraction of the cost
